How to Get a Medical Marijuana Card

Published by Jan

Getting a medical marijuana card is not always an easy thing to do. Depending on which state you live in, you may find it a simple or a difficult task. The first thing you will need is determination...

I wish it were as easy for everyone everywhere as it is for those of us that live in California, Colorado, Michigan and Montana, but alas, it is not.

Please be aware, MedicalMarijuana.com has gone to great lengths to provide a directory of doctors, and or clinics in each state that has medical marijuana laws in place at this time.  Some states have hundreds of physicians willing to write recommendations; some have only a few.
If you are unable to find a doctor that will write you a recommendation because you do not have record, or evidence of your medical condition, you will need to find a medical doctor with whom to establish a doctor, patient relationship.  Do your research, scouer the web and look for a doctor who may be user friendly.

Note:  If you live in a state that puts pressure on doctors not to write recommendations, you may find it advantageous not to mention medical marijuana on your first visit.  Get a diagnosis first, and then talk with your doctor about exploring the possibilities of treatment with medical marijuana. Once you have your doctor's reccomendation, getting a state I.D. card (if you want one) should be a sinch.
The internet, Blackberry’s and iPhones lead us to believe that we are entitled to instantaneous gratification, and that we should be able to accomplish anything with a click of a mouse. However, when it comes to a situation such as this, there is no substitute for perseverance. Keep in mind that the alternative is you may get nowhere without it.

My personal observation is that people that need medical marijuana for medicinal purposes will persevere, and people that only want a recommendation so that they can get high legally, will often give up when the going gets tough.

To those of you that live in states that do not have medical marijuana laws in place, I am sorry for your loss.

Do you have a medical condition that you believe would benefit from the use of medical marijuana? Do you need help validating its use? Click on “medical uses” at the top of the page. When the page refreshes click on “see all conditions”
Our medical uses expert Jan Chaboya-Hembree has compiled over 100 articles on specific conditions that can benefit from the use of medical marijuana. Her articles provide detailed information written by doctors in support of medical marijuana.
From fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis to pain management and insomnia, doctors across America, including the Surgeon General and the National Cancer Institute support the use of medical marijuana to combat symptoms related to these conditions. There is a preponderance of scientific evidence, which supports the fact that medical marijuana can reverse the growth of brain tumor cells.
Do you need help convincing your doctor that you could benefit from the use of medical marijuana? Print out Jan's article on your condition and take it to your doctor’s appointment.
If you do not see your condition listed in the medical uses section, click on “ask our experts” at the top of the page and ask Jan to prepare an article on your condition and how you could benefit from the use of medical marijuana.

I have chronic pain, migraines, and a few other things that would qualify me in most states. If I only my previous prescription bottles (such as Marinol) and written prescriptions would that be enough, or do i also need to have my list of diagnosis, etc..?

I live in WV. Is there somewhere close to me,(Maryland, etc.) I could go to. I have been w/the pain clinic and the spine clinic for 10 yrs. Ihave tried every drug out there. I get high and therefore I can't get narcotics. I would rather smoke my pot then all those drugs. I am classified as a chronic pain patient. I can't afford to travel to the places listed. Could you see what you can do.? TY (carderjane@yahoo.com)
