Looking For A Veganic Bagged Soil

I'm having wonderful results with Vital Earth's Manna Mix. It's comprised of a 50-50 mix of peat and coir. Enhanced with OMRI compost, and earthworm castings. Earthworm castings are acceptable in eyes, would be better if they could be listed OMRI as well. But at least no guano's. It's inexpensive, organic, and going into my 7th week everything is still green. I needed only amend with CaMg, Humboldt Bloom, soluble seaweed, and 3 drops/gl. of mineral matrix micros. :)

what do you ph water at for manna mix?? also, how often do you add calcium and magnesisum??

Unless I am reading something wrong on the Vital Earth's website, this mix contains both seabird and bat guano.

If you view the medium description ( http://vitalearthsproducts.com/soil-mixes) it lists one of the ingredients as "Vital Earth's® Rose & Flower Mix". Go to the description of this product on their website ( http://vitalearthsproducts.com/dry-fertilizers ) and the first line is "A superior blend of bat & seabirds guanos for..."

Has this mix changed?

I noticed that as well the other day. I'm not super concerned about the soil being veganic. I know many would be though.

i think ur right vaped- i just checked the site and it does say "Contains Vital Earth's® Rose & Flower Mix".

def not veganic.... :(

Hey Matt, hope all is well.

Wish I could find a good veganic medium, however can't hate on having guano in your starting mix as mine currently does.

The manna mix does have both seabird guano and bat guano in the "rose and Flower" fert which is in the manna mix. I realized that the black gold natural and organic potting soil was only compost, peat, ewc, pumice, and perlite with an NPK of .05-0-0. I hope I cleared up the confusion between the possibly older/other black gold mixes which were not vegan and much hotter than the mix I just described. I just saw the just right mix has bone char, I really wanted to try that stuff, I still might. I think it would be so rad if kushman designed a medium to go with his new nute line. I found a few golden peat sources, I remember someone asking about that. I agree with kyle when he says very small amounts of animal products aren't a big deal since we are tryin to grow great weed not act like semantic vegans. But if we have a bunch of great poop free options, why not? No poop wasn't my idea though it does kick butt lol. I bookmarked near 10 sites with vegan mixes and I need to make a list and post em. I still think we should have sunland mix us up a mix to our liking and we can split it between all of us and it can go with the new nute line : ) I would still give the manna mix a try.

I really love the performance of the roots potting mix and amazon bloom for my non vegan stuff. In my last OD run I had a few plants in 20 gal pots with half amazon bloom and half roots potting mix (the cheapest mix they have) and I fed with GO/NN plus the regular supplements/inoculants. I ran a few mixes, some near inert, about half was with no animal at all, some like the amazon/roots had significant nutrition in the medium. It was some of the best bud I have grown despite all of the environmental setbacks from growing during the time of the year. They basically all got fed a similar diet as far as what I watered in just very different proportions, my vegan buds really stood out as well as the buds in the roots/amazon though they all were fed with a vegan regimen despite some having animal products in the medium. Keep it up dudes!

i thought i might add tot he list, round here we dont seem to get much variety on soils/soiless mixes

 

we do however have a ton of different vegan products as far as nutes goes.

 

the sunshine advanced mix #4-- made up of 45-55% peat moss, perlite, coco pith, myco's, yucca wetting agent, and lime.

i am doing a run with the advanced mix #4, along with the biocanna line and NN P ( 0-2-0 *derived form bone meal) lets see how it goes

maybe Kushman made a typo and he's using the "organic potting soil"? or he didnt realize that hes been using the guanos??? uh oh......whats the real deal here ? can it be? the guanos are helping the veganic buds get that big? You gotta clear this up KK.....

hope that comment doesnt come off condescending, now Im confused too about the no poop thing..and if I wanna go veganic or maybe just like a 90 percent veganic 10 percent organic method huh? damn it!

so....i researched that manna mix as well and found the same thing you did.

i looked around and now im trying sunshine rain forest blend, nowhere on the bag or website does it list any manure or guanos as an ingredient.

if you have any thoughts on this id love to hear them

I found an answer that Kyle probably got a question or new it would come into question about the manna mix...the Manna Mix is considered vegan,the small amt of guano used is broken down, I beleive by the fungi and bacteria and leaves no residue in the soil..therefor the only thing left in the soil throughout the grow is the existing plant matter and the veganic/organic nutrients that are being fed to the plant
