I see I'm the first person to post here so I guess I'll start this as a forum for people to post their experience with fibromyalgia and how/what cannabis helps.
My fibromyalgia kicked in when i was a Junior in High school at 17 years old. At the time I was an MCJROTC cadet, a cadet platoon commander, and a singer in the best High school chorus in Tallahassee. I was brought down by crippling pain, nausea, depression, insomnia, nuerocardiogenic syncope (fun stuff), migraines, and fibro-fog. I would literally forget someone's name in the middle of a sentence, like my best friend Doug who I had known for five years- I would just not be able to think. No one knew what was happening to me, and I only knew to blame myself which didn't help. I was losing weight, and I could only eat once every two or three days, usually vomiting 3-5 times a day. The months it took to get to doctors, get pain medications and anti-depressants which only made me sicker and worse. Finally a year ago I was able to get prescribed Marinol and return to school...for a short time. It barely helped, and it made me vomit just the same. Marinol gave me migraines and even the top dosage stopped helping.
I had tried cannabis once before, around the time when I had first had to come home my Junior year because I was so ill. I was for 2 months able to exercise and gain weight (something hard for me to do). In fact I was the healthiest I'd ever been in my life, flying through my online classes. But my parents found my flowers and took them (a gram lasted me 3 weeks back then), threatening me with prison time. I lost One and a half years to Western medicine and no help at all, knowing the irony that a flower could make me well. But now I'm able to get enough medicine to treat my pain properly. Unfortunately I live in a state where there is no protection for patients, but I'd like to move to one as soon as I can. The Florida weather makes me ache so bad.
