I am a middle aged man and I have never used Marijuana in my life. As I have gotten older I have started to develop some serious problems with my feet. My doctors have provided me with all kinds of pain killer and Ibuprofen. These do help a bit with the pain but I'm worried that they are going to start damaging my kidneys, will leave me addicted to opiods, and I know they leave me feeling really anxious all the time. The thought of trying pot leaves me feeling terrified but I am desperate for relief. Sometimes the pain is so bad and so persistent that I have even considered just ending it all. But I have a wife who loves me and kids that need me. I need something that will reduce the pain, not leave me feeling anxious and stressed out all the time and does not leave me in a constant state of mild to moderate withdrawal. This is no way to live.
Please any guidence would be greatly appreciated.
PS> I should point out, I have never smoked anything in my life. so if there are better ways than smoking to use marijuana I would love to hear more about it.
I'd look into getting a vaporizer to use for mmj, if I was you. That's what I did when I started using mmj and it was good. I hadn't smoked since '99 so it was good.
Look into getting a portable vaporizer. I'd also talk to someone at a dispensary to see if they can recommend a vape type. Vapes can be pricy, but you don't need to break the bank to find a decent one. I spent about $75 on the one that I started with.
Me, I only vaped for awhile before I got frustrated with the inconsistency of it working up to my standards, cleaning the screens/handling the vaporizer, etc., so I smoke now. Vaporizers can sometimes get clogged and/or don't produce the necessary amount of vapor for you to get an effect. Smoking doesn't have those issues and is more cost effective IMO.
Hi MMJ - I never tried MM in my life before either until my doctor suggested it for my neuropathic pain in my hand and foot. I hear you and know exactly where you are coming from. Before going the mm route, was on oxy and gabapentin - very bad side effects, plus weight gain and reduced kidney function. Did not help that they also had me on Tylenol 3's at the same time and still I had no relief from the pain, and was unable to sleep. With MM I can say pain is reduced sometimes by as much as 60-70% and I can sleep. I no longer take any prescription meds of any kind. I only smoke at night before bed if I can help it, and I have a quality of life I did not have before. Get a doctor that can prescribe it for you or move to a place where it is legal. Good luck my friend.
